After careful consideration and prayer, we feel it is in our best interest to close our store at 2149 N Center Street. There are many reasons for this decision, not just finances. We had hoped to give one month’s notice and had developed an exit plan but due to recent circumstances beyond our control, we are closing our doors immediately.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused those who use our space.Teena and I are both working full time in order to support ourselves so the time we have to manage the business aspect of Java’s ministry is limited. It is always wise to evaluate one’s ministry to see if one is making the best use of time and resources and to determine if God’s vision and direction for the ministry has changed.
In the past four years since opening, we have seen many lives touched. Java has become a safe place on neutral ground for many who love the Lord or who seek to know more about him. It has also become a favorite hang out for business folks and for those meeting for special occasions and events. We know many people will be sad to hear this news but we have to remain faithful to what we feel God is directing us to do.
Experience has taught us not to hold too tightly to the material or to a specific ministry paradigm so that they don’t become sacred cows.Though the store is closing, our ministry will continue. However, it will be much simpler to maintain.
We will still hold our Sunday evenings gatherings (which will now be housed in the Stewart home at 6191 Mountainside Drive in Hickory) at 6:30 pm. In recent months our Feet on our Faith gatherings, the first Sunday of each month at 6:30 pm where we plan and participate in charitable hands-on giving to the community, has taken flight. Though it is still relatively young, the ministry is both exciting and fulfilling.
On the horizon for this ministry we still foresee obtaining a coffee roaster. Roasting in this case will help us raise funds for charitable causes and we will be working toward our goal of raising the remaining amount for a simple roaster. (If you wish to help with this aspect, please let us know.)
For the time being, as we seek God’s continued direction, we plan to maintain our website javajourney.org, which will include updates on our ministry. If you still wish to be a part of Java Journey’s ministry you may contact Jeff Stewart at email@example.com, (707) 980 1783, or Teena Stewart at firstname.lastname@example.org or (707) 980-0317.
Sorry for the delay. We’ve talked with two different parties about taking over our inventory lock, stock and barrel and opening back up under a different name and entity, but that has not worked so, we are now listing our inventory which we will sell individually.
Here’s the link. Some items are presently in negotiation. If you are interested in any items email us at the emails above. Asking prices are listed are based on fair value and are listed beside the items.
